General

In 2019, ASM dropped the Hydrasynth and the world became a happier place. This versatile synthesizer came wrapped in an impressive housing decked out with a clear and tactile set of controls. A more compact desktop edition followed soon after, but the only thing missing was the convenience of a keyboard loaded with polyphonic aftertouch - at least, if that's what you're into. Offering a tasty middle-ground between the two, ASM introduce the Hydrasynth Explorer: a stripped back rendition of the full-sized Hydrasynth but loaded with a medium-sized set of keys - complete with polyphonic aftertouch.

The full-sized Hydrasynth was, and still is, an undeniable beast of a synthesizer. While there are synths that you can master in the space of a Sunday afternoon, the Hydrasynth isn't one of them. The mass of options that it has on offer doesn't just present users with an immense sonic palette but a mass of potential when it comes to nuance - definitely a worthy chunk of gear for serious and experienced sound designers. What the Hydrasynth Explorer offers is that same level of potential, just neatly crammed inside a more compact and portable housing that can even run on batteries.
