In 2019, ASM dropped the Hydrasynth and the world became a happier place. This versatile synthesizer came wrapped in an impressive housing decked out with a clear and tactile set of controls. A more compact desktop edition followed soon after, but the only thing missing was the convenience of a keyboard loaded with polyphonic aftertouch - at least, if that's what you're into. Offering a tasty middle-ground between the two, ASM introduce the Hydrasynth Explorer: a stripped back rendition of the full-sized Hydrasynth but loaded with a medium-sized set of keys - complete with polyphonic aftertouch.

ASM Hydrasynth Explorer Synthesizer

Can't recommend this synth enough. 3 osc, 2 of 8 part wavetable, and one that just plays a single wave. No sequencer. You use the 5 step LFO to make rhythmic patches. You have a 32 way comprehensive mod matrix. Has great analoguing functions that actually work, and nice 4 way effects too. We made dozens of patches for this synth, it's a joy to make presets with the simple workflow. It can make anything from acid rhythms to soundtracks, to emotive leads and pads. A few things could be added on a future firmware update, but it's already a great synth, with its poly aftertouch and ratchet arp. Definitely recommended, but only if you want synthetic instruments of real quality, it doesn't do sampled pianos and strings etc

Zijn van huis uit min of meer synthetische, moderne geluiden is aanvankelijk even wennen maar de synthese biedt gelukkig meer dan voldoende parameters om deze makkelijk en snel binnen zeer ruime grenzen te corrigeren. Tenslotte wil ik nog graag de uitstekende polyfone aftertouch noemen die een zeer expressief spel mogelijk maakt. Al met al een grandioos instrument dat niet snel verveelt.
