Craft beats from samples and effects with slick ease using the Roland SP-404MKII as your all-in-one sampling control panel. This creative sampler comes equipped with a comprehensive stack of sample editing tools and effects, all navigated with the help of a central LED screen featuring visible waveforms that you can zoom in on for precision editing so users can cut samples to size in real-time, or speed up the process even further using the Auto Chop function. Refine custom samples using a built-in envelope filter and pitch shifter, and since the entire-resampling workflow has been polished up for the MkII edition, patterns and effects layers can now be re-recorded, while a smart Skip Back Sampling function samples the last 25 seconds of the performance.

Deeper Editing Options with the SP-404MKII App

The Roland SP-404MKII partner app doesn't just provide a tasty list of legendary SP effects, but a fresh collection of new classics. So you get to play with the Vinyl Simulator and DJF Looper as well as newer toys like a Lo-Fi Cassette Simulator and a Resonator. A microphone or guitar can be plugged in directly to sample more complex sonic textures, and the sound can be tweaked using ready-made effects including a Vocoder Auto Pitch function and a Guitar Amp Simulator. Besides the immense sample editing options and effects on offer, patterns can be built via a flexible workflow using quantize and shuffle; a Pad Link function to trigger multiple samples at the same time, a Roll function for spitting variable note-repeats; and BPM adjustment per bank so users can freely flip between different tempos.
