The Boss XS-1 Poly Shifter offers a revolutionary approach to pitch shifting, developed by BOSS engineers who used new methods to improve real-time pitch shifting. Thanks to advanced algorithms and a carefully selected DSP platform, the XS-1 delivers a balanced polyphonic performance that feels natural and musical, regardless of your playing style, pickup settings or pedal configuration. It maintains the attack and character of the instrument, even in complex chords or sustained lead tones, which are usually challenging for traditional pitch shifters.

XS-1 Poly Shifter for live use

For live performances, the XS-1 offers the freedom to change your tuning quickly and without interruptions. Instead of long pauses, instrument changes or pedals distorting the sound, you can easily change your tuning without disrupting the flow of your performance. Whether you need drop tuning, want to adjust pitch to a singer's range or create special timbres, the XS-1 lets you discover new musical possibilities effortlessly.

Wide range and easy to use

With a range of +/- seven semitones and three octaves, the XS-1 offers flexible possibilities for various musical applications. The compact interface makes it easy to set up the desired sounds quickly and intuitively. For example, use the Balance knob to set only the effect in semitone settings and avoid pitch conflicts. For octave shifts, you can use the knob to mix in the direct sound for effects such as 12-string sounds or parallel guitar/bass sounds. In addition, Detune mode allows you to create rich doubling effects with a clear and detailed sound.

Creative control

For even more creative control, the XS-1 offers several options to customise your performance. The pedal switch can be set for standard on/off switching or for momentary control. You can connect up to two external foot pedals for quick access to alternative tuning settings, or add an expression pedal for dynamic pitch changes that add dimension to your performance. The XS-1 gives you the freedom to shape your musical ideas in new ways.
