Needing no introduction, the next-gen edition of the Marcus Miller V7 Vintage four-string has been upgraded on all sides. This modern classic takes the sound and feel of the first generation bass to the next level, then nudges things even further. The stable hard maple neck has an immediately solid and reassuring feel as well as a super-comfortable C-profile carve while the fretboard edges have been rounded-off for an even faster, even smoother and even more sublime feel in the fret-hand - especially when you pile on the old-school-style 7.25 inch fretboard radius.

The Marcus Miller V7V+ Vintage: Retro Warmth with a Tight Bottom-End

The neck has been bolted onto the solid swamp ash body of this J-style Sire bass to tighten up and modernise the foundation sound while the pair of passive Vintage J-Revolution pickups lay down the warm and played-in, Alnico-magnet-driven sound of a bass that's least a few decades old. Keeping things versatile, this model can be played active as well as passive, thanks to the renowned Marcus Heritage-3 preamp and the potent Middle Frequency Control that comes with it, and to polish off the vintage-style build, a Vintage-S bridge comes pre-fitted and a loose chrome-plated pickup cover comes included.

Was al een tijdje op zoek naar een betaalbare bas, voor erbij.. Liefs in Vintage look , met actieve elektronica.
Mijn oog viel direct op deze Sire, die aan mijn wensen voldeed. Na een paar demo filmpjes op Y.T. te hebben bekeken, ben ik overstag gegaan. Een mooi strak afgewerkte bas gitaar. Ligt heel lekker in de hand en speelt erg soepel. Het geluid is overweldigend : van lekker warm jazzy tot....een pitte slap. Afijn, genoeg mogelijkheden.
Het gewicht valt erg mee. Voor mijn gevoel iets lichter dan mijn oude Fender J bas.

Mijn conclusie: een geweldige bas voor een betaalbare prijs !!

Na heel veel bassen in allerlei prijssegmenten (ook de hogere regionen) te hebben geprobeerd bleef ik maar terugkomen op deze Sire. Speelt heel soepel en heeft een geluid waar je allerlei richtingen mee uit kan. De actieve preamp is leuk maar voegt niet iets essentieels toe want de bas klinkt zonder ook al meer dan prima. Wel een kleine spoiler: de bas komt met D'addario Nickel Gauge Exl170, 35-100 en heeft dus iets lichtere snaren dan de meeste bassen en speelt derhalve ook iets lichter. Kortom, een superbas voor een zeer mooie prijs.
