The pro-choice ISP Technologies Hum Extractor + Decimator G pedal does far more than any simple noise-gate or noise reduction stompbox ever could. This pedal simply excels in any situation, no matter how monstrous the overdrives or distortions, or when you're simply in need of a mild crunch or some crystal cleans - everything is effortlessly wiped clean of both unwanted, obvious noise and even more subtle and unwelcome hum.

The ISP Tech Hum Extractor + Decimator G: 1 Pedal, 2 Effects & 3 Times the Reduction

The noise reduction is taken care of by the acclaimed Decimator section over on channel 2. The more nuanced but just as annoying frequency-related hum, meanwhile, is filtered out by the Hum Extractor over on channel 1, and both effects come with their own dedicated Threshold control pot, so the response can be accurately set to match your sound. Place channel 1 before your preamp and link channel 2 to your effects loop to send it through the power amp, and you're essentially sorted. Both sections of this pedal work in unison and the effect is seamless, but there is one extra tool that ISP Technologies has thrown in to make life even easier: high-frequency sliding filtering, which ensures that all the more shrill treble frequencies are melted away, like an abandoned snowman in the midday sun.

Allereerst: ik had de recente 11% korting op B-stock gemist, maar Bax heeft me toch blij willen maken door een fijne deal met me te sluiten. Hulde voor Bax! Als vaste klant ben ik blij met de doorstart. Bax heeft voor mij toch een streepje voor op de concurrenten.

Dan het apparaat: dit is absoluut het beste -en de prijs waard- als je de moeite neemt om de gebruiksaanwijzing goed te lezen en begrijpen. Het 'geheim' zit hem in de Filter Trx knop waarmee je de ratio instelt (tussen het 2x instellen van de treshhold). In praktijk komt dat neer op exact instellen hoeveel ruis je aan de bovenkant van het signaal je wilt elimineren. Als je alle ruis wegneemt, verlies je top end in je gitaargeluid. Dat kan je compenseren met een treble boost. Of je neemt genoegen met een beperkte hoeveelheid ruis en houdt het geluid in tact. Je kan dit zien als nadeel maar het werkt nou eenmaal zo, want geloof me dat elke noise gate die ruis verwijdert ook je geluid aantast (ik heb ze vrijwel allemaal geprobeerd). Wat deze uniek maakt is dat je het naar eigen smaak kunt instellen.
Verder is er een aparte knop om 50/60Hz-hum te verwijderen en een knop voor ground lift. Deze instellingen veranderen niks aan het gitaargeluid. Tot zover het ruis en hum eliminerende gedeelte.
Met de treshhold stel je de noise gate in, dus dat is het geluidsniveau waar vanaf het gehele gitaargeluid niet meer wordt doorgegeven. Hiermee elimineer je alle gekraak, gerommel en gerochel van high gain amps of (distortion/OD/fuzz) pedalen. De gate sluit heel smooth en lineair, mede omdat de treshhold wordt bepaald door het oorspronkelijke gitaargeluid (dus niet door het gain geluid waar het echter wel effect op heeft).

Wat een geniaal ontworpen technologisch wonder! ISP heeft het apparaat slecht gepromoot, dus hopelijk draagt deze review een steentje bij, want wat mij betreft is dit de beste en meest geavanceerde noise-killer die je als gitarist kunt wensen. Ik heb er nu twee: voor twee boards en als reserve in geval dat ......

Duur en groot, maar de moeite waard! Beste noise gate die je toch nog op je pedalboard past.
