A deep and respectful nod to the supreme Sovtek MIG-50 amp heads of old, the Electro Harmonix MIG-50 holds true to that unmistakable and near-unbreakable all-American 'Tweed' style sound - a pure, valve-driven sound that was originally developed for the bass. So, while EHX have shaken a handful of modern fairy dust over this amp head, you're essentially dealing with the same legend. The EHX MIG-50 has also been assembled by hand in New York, guaranteeing quality, no matter what you do with it.

The Electro Harmonix MIG-50: Practical American Sound Quality

In the preamp section sit three high-quality 12AX7 valves, two of which have been provided by Tun-Sol, and the other by Mullard. The power amp is just as impressive, since it's been loaded with the overtone-rich and far-reaching tonal palette offered by a pair of Tung-Sol 5881 valves. To engage the old-school tone that this amp was built to reproduce, simply plug into input I. For a bit more gain and extra brightness, plug into input II. Both channels have been furnished with a dedicated volume control, while the three band EQ section and Presence controls are shared. Around the back, a set of three speaker outputs are fitted to support 4, 8 and 16 Ohm cabinets as preferred, alongside the option to set an external bias.
