This is a product that definitly lives up to the hype. Incredibly flexible for routing which for playing/recording different instruments at home is so useful. The options for routing through the USB interface are also better than expected. I'm plugged into Garage band and can quickly record my guitar, bass guitar. The Mic input goes straight to USB Input8 meaning I don't actually need any other interface. I even have my Harmonica Mic plugged into one of the RETURNS to record. Thats 4 items all plugged in and separately routed with minimal effort.

On top of this the sounds to my ear really are great, especially if you search down presets on the internet. People have put a lot of effort into setting up presets and there are plenty to download.

Mijn gitaren op zich klinken met deze setup ook veel uitgebalanceerder dan op mijn vorige versterkers met een reeks effectpedalen eraan gekoppeld. Tevens blijft de klank van de gitaar zelf veel beter behouden dan op mijn buizenversterkers en ook de klankregeling op de gitaar zelf komt veel beter door bij de Line-6 Helix.
Het aanpassen van de presets bij de Line-6 Helix is vrij eenvoudig, en voor de leek vind je op YouTube filmpjes genoeg hieromtrent. Ook het volume is mooi regelbaar, zodat je echt niet superluid moet spelen om de gewenste klank te krijgen zoals bij sommige versterkers.

In zeer korte tijd heb ik eindelijk de klank gevonden waar ik al geruime tijd naar zoek, en dat in slechts enkele 'minuten'.
Dit belooft echt voor de toekomst, als ik mijn eigen klanken ga finetunen...

Tegenvallend is dat de AUX In een Mono ingang is en dus ongeschikt is als input om met backing tracks mee te spelen. Ik heb daarom de Helix gecombineerd met een klein Yamaha MG06 mengpaneel. Op dit mengpaneel kan ik telefoon of tablet eenvoudig aansluiten voor de backing tracks en sluit ik ook de output van de Helix aan. Vanaf het mengpaneel gaat het geluid naar de studio monitors en/of IEM/koptelefoon. Bijkomend voordeel is dat alle volumes weer binnen handbereik zijn te regelen met de Helix op de grond. Helix staat standaard op de PC aangesloten en is met HX Edit erg eenvoudig te bedienen.
