The Soundcraft Ui24R is a 24-channel digital mixer in a handy 19-inch rack module size. With this device, Soundcraft takes over where they left off with the Ui12 and Ui16. Wij gebruiken de UI24R nu 2 jaar met 8-koppige band en zijn er enorm blij mee. Wat een dijk van een apparaat!

Een digitale mixer met zoveel channels, zoveel routings-opties, on-board Multitrack-recording, goede ingebouwde effecten, een inlog voor iedereen via webbrowser (met 2 configureerbare toegangsniveaus voor bijv. muzikant en FOH geluidsman), ga nog maar even door. Ik kan geen alternatief vinden wat hier qua prijs/aanbod bij in de buurt komt.

Je zou kunnen denken aan de XR/MR18, maar die kunnen slechts 4 devices tegelijk aan (de UI24R kan er 10), en op de UI24R heb je mogelijkheid tot aansluiten touchscreen via HDMI. Je krijgt er verder nog 4 extra fysieke inputs bij en 2 extra outputs. Software werkt ook veel lekkerder dan de XR18 naar mijn mening, en je hebt geen app nodig. Middels de cascading-functie, kun je indien nodig zelfs 2 stuks UI24R aan elkaar koppelen om een enorme installatie aan te kunnen met dubbele ins/outs. Maar nog wel de meest fijne unieke feature (die de XR18 niet heeft) vind ik de on-board Multitrack recording naar USB. Dit is zó handig. Wij hebben een hele kleine USB gekocht met 128gb die gewoon standaard in de UI24R zit. Zo kunnen we altijd iets opnemen on the road. @Keshje d.m.v. juiste FAT32 formattering is dit bij ons wél gelukt, zou het nog eens dubbel checken als ik jou was.

Voor een ander project gebruik ik de Zoom L-20, een soort hybride analoog/digitaal mengpaneel. Fijn apparaat, door de conventionele 'analoge' lay-out met faders, knoppen etc. erg eenvoudig aan mensen uit te leggen. Maar voor die prijs i.c.m. de functionaliteiten, zou ik zelf achteraf 100% voor de UI24R hebben gekozen.

Prijs is erg goed, komt natuurlijk met name door ontbreken van gemotoriseerde faders. Ook in settings waarbij je niet altijd een geluidsman nodig hebt (zoals op oefenavonden), is dit apparaat erg handig. Je slaat gewoon een showpreset op genaamd 'oefenavond' en die laad je iedere keer in. Wij hebben hem ingebouwd in een robuuste rack-flightcase met voor- en achterdeksel, past er perfect in. Logitech bluetooth ontvanger erbij geplaatst die in de RCA-line ingang gaat, zodat we ook eenvoudig wat muziek kunnen afspelen. Tot slot nog een rackschakelaar aan de achterkant die de boel aan/uit schakelt.

Al met al adviseer ik dit apparaat van harte voor bands/geluidstechnici die analoge mengpanelen gewend zijn en een volgende stap willen maken. Kost even wat tijd om je erin te verdiepen, maar dit gaat je zoveel waarde teruggeven! T.o.v. 'grote' digitale mengtafels met gemotoriseerde faders etc, denk ik zelfs dat dit sneller te leren is, en er nog meer functionaliteit ingebouwd zit.
