Evans EQ4 16-inch drumhead for bass drum

From Evans' EQ4 series, this is the 16-inch bass drumhead. This skin is suitable for bass drums with a traditional, wide span rim. A solid attack with a warm sound and fine sustain is what you can expect. The EQ4 heads have a thickness of 10 mil and are single-ply. A tone control ring is attached to the inside of the sheet, providing a solid 'punch' and a balanced sound.

Evans EQ4 Clear 16-inch bass drumhead

It is often difficult to find a suitable skin for 16-inch bass drums. This is because the small kick has not actually been made as a bass drum for very long. Most brands have always used 18-inch as the smallest bass drum size. The 16-inch bass drum actually came about because more and more drummers started converting their floortom into a bass drum. The disadvantage of a converted floortom is that the tension edges are not the same. A bass drum has thick, wooden spokes and a floortom has thin metal spokes. This is also the reason Evans makes these heads for both types.

• In mid-2019, Evans changed the logo on the sheets. It used to have 'Level 360' on it, which is no longer the case with the new sheets. The sheets with 'Level 360' on them are still in circulation, so you might receive one with or without that text. Otherwise, the sheet is completely the same. All sheets are still delivered in the old box, which will also be replaced at the end of 2019.
