General

A bass amplifier has a single purpose: to amplify your bass tones as cleanly as possible. If you want to further personalise and fine-tune that clean sound, Orange has you covered with their 4 Stroke 300 amp head. You can do so by using the 4-band parametric equalizer which gives you control of pretty much all frequencies and allows you to either reduce or boost them. What's more, this 300-watt amp has a compressor that's selectable by a foot switch for even more possibilities.

The full spectrum

As previously mentioned, the 4 Stroke 300 gives you complete control over your sound thanks to the innovative EQ. It consists of two parts: the top row is the cut/boost department while the bottom row is for controlling the frequencies. Moving from left to right, you can adjust your low-mid, high-mid and high bass tones. Essentially, you've got control of 40 Hz to 5.5 kHz, which means you can adjust the most subtle nuances in your sound and add extra definition where needed. Besides the volume knob, there's a compression control that you can activate by means of an optional foot switch.

Sturdy housing

Orange has designed the head of this amp to fit in a 19-inch rack or on top of a cabinet. Connecting is a piece of cake with the two SpeakOn inputs with a minimal resistance of 4 ohms. You can also opt to plug it in directly in the studio, for example, using the balanced or line output, which is great when you don't feel like lugging your 4x 10-inch speaker cabinet around. Bass players can improve the sound of their active instrument by using the pad switch next to the input to decrease the volume level by 6 dB. Finally, at just under 10 kilos, you can take this amp head with you wherever you go.

NAMM 2016: Orange Celebrates with Anniversary Amps!

Thursday 21 January 2016 By Lizanne

Okay, okay, it's not exactly Orange's anniversary. It's actually the ten-year anniversary of one of their products, the Tiny Terror. Just for the occasion, they've developed a very special Limited Edition Half Stack, consisting of a manually-wired chrome 15-watt Shiny Terror tube head and a 2x 10" cabinet with an open fretwork back in Racing Green. Time to celebrate!
