The VT Bass 500 amplifier is based on the much applauded SansAmp Character Series of VT Bass DI pedals. Each of these Tech 21 Character Series pedals is able to accurately mimic the sound of a legendary bass amp and this patented technology has now been crammed into a single head together with a potent 500 Watt Class-D amplifier. The result is a tight little amp head armed with the knowledge of bass-legends-of-old. Emulations of well-known thick funk to renowned snarling growl and on to a full-fat and ever-friendly overdrive. The Drive pot on the control panel of the VT Bass 500, much like it would on a standard tube-amp, determines how far over the top you want the sound to go. A Blend pot mixes the 'tube-sound' emulation with your very own original bass sound while the Character pot adds a very specific and very special twist. This stepless pot glides seamlessly through the golden ages of bass amp stacks, from classic vintage to high-gain and sweet leads!
Active tone pots offer a cut or boost of 18dB while the midrange can be switched from 500Hz to 1kHz and a Bite pot boosts the presence - which sounds great when used to add definition to deeply distorted sound. The bypass switch on the effects loop also functions as a useful mute and a set of high-grade Neutrik SpeakOn speaker outputs finish the pro-level authority and potential of this tight little amplifier.
