General
The Sennheiser E 901 is a half-cardioid condenser microphone for your kick drum. The boundary microphone has a very robust housing and an integrated preamp. Place it in or just in front of your kick drum and the sound will be registered perfectly. The frequency range from 20 to 20,000 Hz is optimised for kick drums. The E 901 is also very well suited for a Leslie speaker or other low-frequency instruments.
E 901: quick and handy to use
You won't need any complicated shockmounts or clips for the Sennheiser E 901. You can place it directly in front or in your kick drum. The solid rubber anti-slip mat at the bottom reduces the picking up of ambient noise and ensures that the microphone doesn't move during the recording.

Wrote the following about Sennheiser E 901 condenser boundary microphone
Echt een prachtige mic. Heb m nu een paar maanden, en gebruik hem heel erg verschillend. De ene keer gebruik ik de mic als kick in mic. Hiermee vang ik genoeg attack en click op wat ik vaak mis met een kick out.
Maar vaak gebruik ik deze mic ook voor cajon. Het laag is erg warm en open, waarbij het hoog erg sprankelend en helder blijft.
Ik heb de e901 laatst ook gebruikt als enige kick mic. Dit, omdat ik geen kick out mic tot mijn beschikking had. Door de mic andersom in de kick te leggen (dus gericht naar de resonant head ipv de klopper), krijg ik meer sub en iets minder click tot mijn beschikking. Dit klinkt opzich wel oke, maar wanneer de kick iets solo doet, is het geluid meer een 'plop' dan een 'woef'. Dus op dat moment mis ik wel een kick out.
Over het algemeen hoef ik vrij weinig eq te gebruiken voor deze mic. Compressie is wel ten zeerste aan te raden, want dan wordt de click echt duidelijk.
Echt een prachtige mic, klinkt goed en ziet er verbluffend uit. Leuk om aan je vrienden te laten zien en vertellen dat dit een microfoon is haha.
Al met al, beste grensvlakmicrofoon op de markt!
