Vandoren reeds: strength 1 to 5

Vandoren reeds come in various strengths, which are indicated by different numbers, from 1 to 5, in half steps. 1 is the thinnest and has the least strength, but is the easiest to make a tone with although the sound quality is somewhat compromised. 5 is the thickest reed, and as such, is much harder to create a tone with. Once the sound is created, on the other hand, it's a lot fuller and richer. So to sum up, the higher the number of the reed, the harder it is to play, but the fuller it sounds. This particular reed type has a strength of 2, which means it's relatively easy to play and therefore suitable for beginners as well as advanced players.
