Rockett offering, but one that's been developed with the help of none other than designer, Rein Narma — the man behind the original 1959 Fairchild 660, which is one of the best compressors ever made and, these days, would actually cost you an arm and a leg. Thankfully, the Airchild Six Sixty is excellent alternative and a fair bit more affordable too.

The Airchild Six Sixty: Studio-Grade Compression

The J. Rockett Airchild Six Sixty is one of those always-on pedals that makes everything sound better. The straightforward controls (output, tone, blend and threshold) are everything a guitarist needs to dial in the specifics, especially since the tone control serves as a tilt-EQ that boosts the trebles and cuts the basses when it's turned anti-clockwise, and vice versa. The Threshold control determines the degree of compression, while the Blend pot lets you mix up the dry and compressed signal as needed. Built like a tank and finished with top-mounted jack ports, the Airchild Six Sixty isn't just practical, but a worthy spin-off of a truly legendary chunk of hardware.
