Electro Voice RE 200 condenser instrument microphone

General

The Electro Voice RE 200 is a condenser microphone intended for the detailed reproduction of acoustic sound sources in live situations and in studio recording. Such applications include registering (choir) vocals, strings, percussion, acoustic guitars and horns. The slight dimensions of this microphone make it easy to place, and the satin black finish makes it quite discrete.

Element

Years were spent on the design of the RE 200 element. Its ultra-thin gold-laminated diaphragm has undergone a triple aging process to ensure that its performance stays consistent even when temperature and humidity of the environment change. The effective electronics ensure that the microphone performs optimally with phantom power of 12 to 52 volts. Furthermore, the cardioid polar pattern is quite balanced over the entire frequency range, making it predictable and easy to control.

Sound

The frequency response of the RE 200 by Electro Voice has a controlled boost in the higher frequencies (presence) which ensures that the overtones of any instrument are properly reproduced. This means that the personality of the instrument shines through better, and that it will be easier to mix and localise. Thanks to the microphone's good response to sound pulses and the reproduction of details, the RE 200 has a transparent sound that is suitable for many applications.
