Hohner has revived authentic blues with this Big River Harp. This music could be heard on the Mississippi Delta in the late 17th century and now lives on in this Big River harmonica. Within the blues, a harmonica is indispensable, and Hohner has not let that pass. The Big River Harp has been designed and assembled with that in mind. So you can fully enjoy the raw tones that shaped the blues years ago.

So to preserve the original blues, they looked and listened carefully to the original harmonicas from the time when everything changed. This is how they arrived at the perfect composition of materials at Hohner that can reproduce the blues like no other. The comb of this harmonica consists of ABS plastic. This has the advantage that it does not diminish in quality as the harmonica ages. A wooden bridge has the disadvantage that it swells over time, blocking the reeds and preventing sound from coming out of the harmonica. With a plastic bridge, you won't have this problem anyway. The tuning plate and reeds are then made of copper. The covers are made of stainless steel and beautifully finished with Hohner text on them.

Tone and series

The Big River harmonica has been placed by Hohner in the MS series. A series with different models whose parts can change. For instance, you can put a comb from the Marine Band on the Big River or the covers from the Special 20 on the Blues Harp. This way, you can experiment with finding your own sound. This harmonica is tuned in the key of D, which is usually used to play along with music in A.
