You can adjust it by means of the drive control and create a soft crunch to screaming high gain, and everything in between. Use it to give your tube amplifier a bit of a boost, or completely open the drive to get a nice distortion out of your transistor amplifier. Its simple yet clever design makes for an easy-to-control pedal that hardly takes up space on your pedal board.
