General

If you're a drummer and want to play where space is limited, then Tama offers the Cocktail JAM kit. This compact set consists of relatively small shells connected to each other by means of a handy system of tubes and clamps. In terms of configuration, this kit consists of a 16x6-inch bass drum on its side, a 14x5.5-inch floor tom, a 10x5-inch tom and a 12x5-inch snare drum. It also comes complete with a bass drum pedal, hi hat and a cymbal arm as well as a set of two gig bags. The shells have a black Midnight Gold Sparkle finish.

A little goes a long way

A kit as compact as this Tama Cocktail JAM will of course sound less loud than a fully-fledged drum kit, but because the shells are made of 100% birch, and equipped with Sound Arc Hoops, this set is still able to produce a lot of noise. The bass drum comes with a Sound Focus Pad mute that ensures a powerful punch. The result is a kit that's perfect for hip-hop, jazz, and intimate acoustic gigs as well. Best of all, the whole thing can be transported from A to B in the two included bags!

I got this a few weeks ago and have now had the chance to use it in a variety of settings. It sounds great with the stock heads, but even better with an upgrade - I chose clear PS3 for the bass and toms and coated Ambassador for the snare. It is quieter than my normal double headed kit, but sometimes that is a good thing and, actually, with a mic on the bass drum batter and one overhead, it would fill most rooms. As you would expect from a major company, it is well made and the finish is beautiful. The two big pluses are that it takes up less space on small stages and that it is so portable. I got a collapsible luggage trolley and with that I can do the whole load in/out in one trip (kit + hardware bag on trolley; cymbal bag over shoulder). This really is a game changer!

Dit is een hele toffe drumkit.
Snel geleverd door bax en zoals omschreven
Voor een idee van hoe de kit klinkt kan ik adviseren video's te kijken van Robbert sput searight.
een video is van "vic firth jams" en een ander met zijn band "Ghostnote".

Uiterlijk:
De black/gold sparkle ziet er erg mooi uit.
Ik vind de kit in z'n geheel er vet uit zien met de omgedraaid kick.

Kwaliteit:
Ik van de kwaliteit op lange termijn nog weinig zeggen.
Maar alle hardware is zeer degelijk. Kick pedaal speelt ook fijn.

In gebruik:
Hij is erg makkelijk te vervoeren met de bijbehorende tassen.
In en uit elkaar halen is echt zo voor elkaar.
Hardware constructie is stevig en heeft een goed doordachte constructie.
De closed hihat clamp is top voor een tweede hihat in je kit mocht je dat fijn vinden.
Hij neemt weinig ruimte in beslag en is lekker compact. Dit is fijn als je weinig ruimte hebt om een drumkit neer te zetten.

Geluid:
Snare en toms zijn mooi te stemmen.
De kick heeft een toffe punch goed voor hiphop en dergelijke. Verwacht niet te veel low-end alleen.

Ik heb wel gelijk alle vellen een upgrade gegeven. Dit kan ik aanraden want hierdoor klinkt de kit echt heel erg tof!
Evans emad op de kick maakt een wereld van verschil in vergelijking met het stock vel.

Almost halfway through 2017, Tama presents new editions of the Cocktail JAM drum kit. There are three new colours and a new configuration too, the Cocktail JAM Mini! This new version has shells that are all 2 inches smaller than the standard JAM and is also available in three colours. Both models are easily transported in two gig bags.
