Sabian AAX The Mini Monster 10/12-Inch Stack

The Mini Monster from Sabian's AAX Series is a potent stack consisting of a 10-inch AA Mini Holy China and a 12-inch AAX Aero Splash. Whether used separately or as a duo, these cymbals provide the kind of attack needed to cut through anything. That's because since the cymbals are relatively small, the accent is rather high, but there's enough body for complex rhythms with enough headroom to effortlessly strike a huge dynamic range. While stacking cymbals can come with unwanted harmonics, these have actually received Sabian's Autofocus Response treatment; a technology used to balance out the sound and take out the harmonics, no matter how hard you play.

The AA Mini Holy China

Buying these cymbals as a stack, doesn't mean you can't use them separately. The AA Mini Holy China is designed in collaboration with Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), with the goal to create a trashy cymbal with a sharp and monstrous cut. As such, the bell has a raw finish and several holes were drilled in the surface to help produce a tonally complex wall of sound.

The AAX Aero Splash

The AAX Aero Splash is full of holes as well, although in this case, it's mainly to do with its extra mix-cutting potential. While it's only 12 inches in size and features a thin cymbal surface, the Aero can get really loud, and has a raw-finished bell adding to its complexity of tone, ultimately making this cymbal perfect for subtle yet electrifying accents.
