General
World-famous artists like Paul McCartney hold their iconic Rickenbacker basses in very high esteem. This revamped Rickenbacker 4003 in breathtaking Amber Fireglo boasts timeless looks and comfy playability. It was actually taken out of production for a few years, but now it's back by popular demand. Thankfully, its iconic look and sublime sound have remained unchanged — only the neck has received a welcome little upgrade.
The Build
The maple neck and body combined with the Rickenbacker-designed single-coil pickups lays down deep bass and long-lasting sustain, though what really sets the Rickenbacker basses apart from other bass guitars are the characteristic trebles so, when it came to sound, the 4003S didn't need much of an overhaul. While the appearance hasn't changed much, the intonation and tuning stability have improved considerably thanks to the addition of a dual action truss rod.
Rickenbacker's Unique Finishes
Rickenbacker-built models are all finished by hand so every example is unique, and they're available in a number of 'standard' colours. The 4003S is available in Fireglo, Jetglo, Mapleglo, Midnight Blue and Amber Fireglo.
