General
The Schecter J-4 Maple is a modern 4-string electric bass guitar with the familiar character of a J-model. The body is made of alder and finished in Sea Foam Green, whilst the bolt-on maple neck and maple fingerboard ensure a bright tone and immediate response. The neck has a Thin C profile and features 21 Narrow X-Jumbo frets. With a scale length of 34 inches (863 mm) and a nut width of 38 mm, this bass offers a comfortable playing experience for both live performances and studio recordings.
MonsterTone-J pickups
For its tone, the J-4 Maple features two Schecter USA MonsterTone-J pickups, one in the bridge position and one in the neck position. The controls consist of Volume, Volume and Tone, with the tone control featuring a push-pull coil tap. This allows the pickups to be switched for additional tonal possibilities, whilst retaining the traditional passive bass response. The combination of the two single-coil pickups with the alder body provides a versatile foundation suitable for a wide range of musical styles.
Bridge and hardware
The Schecter Custom Bass String-Thru bridge offers both string-through-body and top-load mounting, allowing the strings to be fitted in two ways. The bass is also fitted with Schecter tuners and black hardware. The fingerboard has a radius of 16 inches (406 mm) and features black Offset/Reverse Dot inlays. The Graph Tech XL Ivory Tusq nut is 38 mm wide. The J-4 Maple is supplied as a complete instrument; the SGR-Universal Bass case, model number 1671, is available separately and is not included in the package.
