General
These MR-45 Hi-Beam stainless steel strings for electric bass guitar are round wound and have a round core, which is a rather unique feature. Thanks to the round core these strings sound fresh and clear for a very long time. This is contrary to hex-core strings, which have six corners and therefore cavities that are great hiding places for moisture and dirt. Manufacturing DR Strings' Hi-Beam strings requires time, patience and extra care. The result's worth it, however, as these strings offer great playability, flexibility and a very clear sound. Furthermore, they have an exceptionally long lifespan, they're very stable and prefect for bassists who enjoy clarity and punch!

Dacht dat mijn noisless elementen moeite met slap-geluiden hadden. Bleken dus de snaren. Nu alle sound weer terug. Aanrader voor mijn Fender JB. Heerlijke sound en ze snijden goed door de mix. Geld meer dan waard.

Pluspunten:
Na zo ongeveer een jaar DR strings te gebruiken kan ik alleen maar zeggen ‘aanrader’.
De Hi-Beam en Fatbeam snaren van DR zijn erg soepel door de round core maar hebben wel een goede spanning. Ze voelen niet los maar het kost minder moeite om te spelen dan snaren met een HEX-core. De hi-beams hebben door de stainless steel winds een hele fijne toon en veel output. Toch hebben de snaren niet teveel treble of te weinig mid of iets dergelijks.
DR Hi-Beams gaan lang mee, in elk geval veel langer dan Nickel EB snaren, en zijn om die reden eerlijk geprijsd. Ik geef liever zo’n €35 uit aan deze snaren dan tien euro minder aan snaren die na twee weken aan vervanging toe zijn.
Minpuntje:
Het enige minpuntje is dat de snaren wel iets meer lijken te graven in de bridge saddles dan zachtere nickel-wound snaren. Mogelijk op te lossen door andere saddles of een andere brug te installeren. Zo niet, verwijs ik u graag naar DR Sunbeams van nickel.

Ik heb ze een paar jaar geleden ook al geprobeerd, maar toen ging de brug kapot. De snaren waren van harder materiaal dan de brug en maakten een groef in de brug. Elke keer als ik mijn snaren verving, knapte de snaar bij de brug. Ik heb nu de brug vervangen door één met wat harder materiaal. Tot nu toe geen problemen. Plus andere mensen hebben dit probleem niet gehad, dus misschien dat het een fabrieksfout
van de brug was. (De bas is een Mexicaanse Fender Jazz bass uit 2011)
