Austrian string maker Thomastik-Infeld is known for their high-quality hand-made strings, which they've been making since the early twentieth century. The JS112 is a flatwound string set from the Jazz Swing series and is characterised by a warm, mellow sound with a powerful volume. These strings were designed for semi-acoustic and fully acoustic hollow-body jazz guitars and are used by several important jazz musicians, including guitarist George Benson. The Thomastik JS112 is a Medium Light set with string gauges from .012 to .050. They sound slightly fuller and feel a bit tighter than the .011 set (JS111).

Contrary to other string makers who grind down or press their roundwound strings, Thomastik Ingfeld uses flat wire to wind the Jazz Swing strings. The strings are subsequently polished smooth for a supple feel and to counter finger noise. The windings are pure nickel, giving the JS112s their authentically vintage tone. As their core is round, these strings can vibrate optimally, resulting in a powerful tone.
