General
The Yamaha LL-TA electro-acoustic Dreadnought in Vintage Tint is a steel-string guitar that features TransAcoustic technology, which the brand call 'the acoustic guitar (r)evolution'. This guitar has a solid spruce top that's been treated with A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement). This procedure rapidly ripens the wood under strictly-controlled conditions (temperature, air humidity and air pressure). This gives the overall sound a rich, full character.
Solid Basis
When Yamaha releases a new type of technology, you can be sure rest of the guitar is up to par. Its top is made of solid spruce with A.R.E treatment and the body is made of solid rosewood, resulting in a mix of warm tones and sparkling trebles. The fretboard is made of ebony, a warm-sounding type of wood with a pleasant playing feel. The hardware and electronics include solid machine heads and a System 70 TransAcoustic preamp with corresponding piëzo pickup, all made by Yamaha themselves.
Yamaha TransAcoustic
Being able to play guitar in a room with great acoustics is a fantastic and all too rare experience since houses aren't generally built with acoustics in mind. With Yamaha's TransAcoustic guitars, however, it'll sound like you're playing in a specially-designed concert hall no matter where you are. This is achieved by the use of a digital preamp that produces reverb and chorus effects. If that doesn't sound all that unique, once you find out it does this without the use of an amplifier, you'll realise just how remarkable it is. By sending the signal back into the body instead of an amp, a wonderful acoustic sound with reverb and chorus built-in is right at your fingertips.

De stem mechanieken zijn top en de klank van deze all solid body is echt fantastisch mooi en uitgewogen. Wat ik het beste vind is dat je met deze gitaar ook prima kunt soleren omdat de hoge tonen echt vol en krachtig met veel zang overkomen en niet zo dun als dat bij sommige andere steel string gitaren het geval is. De transacoustic electronica van de gitaar zelf (galm en chorus) klingen goed maar gebruik ik heel weinig omdat ik normaliter licht versterkt met een Rolad AC 33 speel en de galm en chorus van deze gebruik. Wat ik verder leuk vind is het 2mm bredere toetsenbord (44mm breed) dan de gemiddelde western gitaar met maar 42mm, wat ik een beetje krap vind omdat ik het toetsenbord van de klassieke gitaar gewent ben. Wat mij aangaande de uitstraling heel goed bevalt is dat de slagplaat transparant is in plaats van donker of zwart kunststof. Hij lijkt hierdoor minder cowboy/western/campfire-achtig, an heeft iets meer van een moderne flair. En de vintage look van het ARE massief bovenblad is ook een echte blikvanger.
Samengevat krijg je hier enorm veel gitaar voor onder de 1000 Euro.

Yamaha themselves refer to the TransAcoustic system as revolutionary and it's not hard to see why. The Yamaha LL-TA dreadnought and the LS-TA triple oh models produce a sound that'll make you think you're playing in a room with great acoustics no matter where you are. And they do this without the need for an amplifier.
