General
A full-size Dreadnought body can be a little cumbersome from time to time, due to its impressive size. Besides, it can make transferring from an electric to an acoustic model more difficult. Luckily, there are plenty of manufacturers that make acoustic guitars with a more manageable size and a comfortable electric-style neck. Ibanez, for instance, has a number of Talman models, including this Talman TCY12Y Open Pore. It has all the trademark Talman features, like the asymmetrical mahogany body and the 25.5" scale length. With its Open Pore finish, this Talman produces quite an impressive volume, despite its compact size.
Talman Body
The characteristic offset Talman body was designed in the early '90s. At the time, however, pointy metal guitars were omnipresent, so the Talman didn't do too well and was quickly taken off the market. In retrospect, that wasn't such a smart move, as the quirky Talman only grew more popular as time progressed. Many years later, Ibanez rightly decided to finally bring the Talman back. With its asymmetrical double-cut body, you'll have easy access to the higher frets, and it's also very comfortable to play.
Construction and hardware
The Talman TCY12Y has a body made entirely of laminated maple, which offers a rich, warm sound that is further emphasised by the maple neck's rosewood fretboard. As for the electronics, the Talman has an Ibanez Under Saddle piezo pickup, combined with an AEQ-2T preamp with a built-in tuner. The preamp even has a built-in 2-band equaliser and a volume knob. In short, with this talented Talman, you'll be equally well-prepared for a campfire singalong or a professional stage performance!
