The legendary Subharmonic Synthesizer from DBX is now available in 500 Series rack format! This unique sound processor forms a fat foundation for your mixes and lowers any Waveform-Modelled bass notes by an octave below the lowest frequency in the mix. The extra layer of low-end shaped by this subharmonic synth can make for a much needed bass boost that'll get your trouser legs flapping, all without conflicting with the original source material because the harmonic context remains the same.

The DBX 510 Subharmonic Synth: Tangible Lows

It's just four controls that give shape to the well-grounded low-end the DBX 510 brings to your mixes. While the upper two allow you to adjust the volume of the first and second harmonics, it's the Subharmonic pot below them where the real fun starts as it lets you set the volume of any added subharmonics. The fourth and bottom control acts as yet another bass boost and, since all of the above resides in a compact, API-lunchbox housing, the DBX 510 can be installed in - and powered by - any standard 500 Series rack.

Applications

There are many, many things possible with this Subharmonic Synth, but it's the low-end lacking mixes in particular that benefit the most here. As such, the regular 510 is widely used in both TV and radio broadcasting studios, while the rack version takes pride of place in many (home) recording studios.
