General

The Yamaha L series has been known for decades for its excellent handcrafted quality. This LJ16 ARE is no exception, and produces a sound that only years of development could create. This particular version features an attractive Brown Sunburst finish and a solid Engelmann spruce top. Engelmann spruce is known for its full, rich sound, and has been used on Custom models for years. The sides and back of the LJ16 are made of rosewood for tight tonal balance, and thanks to the improved bracing system, the bass levels have gotten an extra boost without sacrificing the great transparency this series is known for.

Yamaha LJ16 ARE: SRT Zero Impact

The LJ16 ARE might look like a pure acoustic instrument, but hidden at the bridge is the refined Yamaha SRT Zero Impact pickup system. This system doesn't require an extra preamplifier box that would clutter up the organic look of the guitar. All you have to do is plug a guitar cable into the jack and connect to an amplifier, and you can control the amplified sound from there! Studio and stage playing is no sweat for the LJ16. Did we mention that it's comfortable to play, too? The traditional neck has an easy-to-play profile, and the beautiful ebony fretboard has a snappy response along with smooth playing, thanks to the fine wood grain.

Acoustic Resonance Enhancement

Yamaha added a big dose of technology to the development of the LJ16. By way of Acoustic Resonance Enhancement, a new piece of Engelmann spruce was enhanced to take on the superior sound characteristics of vintage wood. The ARE process involves mixing up a precise cocktail of temperature, air pressure and moisture in order to change the molecular makeup of the wood. This means that the LL16 ARE comes out of the box with the full, rich tone of a vintage guitar, that you'd typically have to wait for years to develop. This outstanding Yamaha has a great sound, excellent playability, and comes with a soft case.
