General

The Yamaha LL16M is a western guitar from the beloved L series. This model has the largest body style - original jumbo - and as such offers the potential for loud dynamics while still maintaining excellent balance, thanks to its high-quality wood types and clever construction. Speaking of high-quality wood, the top of this beauty is made of solid Engelmann spruce. This light wood type is relatively rare, and features elegant wood grain for outstanding resonance. Stylish gold-plated tuners, lovely mother-of-pearl inlays and rosette, and a tortoise pickguard complete the picture.

Yamaha LL16M ARE: melodic mahogany

Where the other models from the L series are made with rosewood, this LL16M features sides and back of mahogany. Combined with the Engelmann top, this Yamaha guitar offers a perfect mix of warmth, clarity and volume. The internal bracing has a new design that offers more defined bass tones without sacrificing the overall sound transparency that the L series is known for. Furthermore, the five-piece mahogany/rosewood neck was designed to offer comfort and playability over the entire length of the 20-fret rosewood fingerboard.

Acoustic Resonance Enhancement

Yamaha added a big dose of technology to the development of the LL16M. By way of Acoustic Resonance Enhancement, a new piece of Engelmann spruce is enhanced to take on the superior sound characteristics of vintage wood. The ARE process involves mixing up a precise cocktail of temperature, air pressure and moisture in order to change the molecular makeup of the wood. This means that the LL16 ARE comes out of the box with the full, rich tone of a vintage guitar, that you'd typically have to wait for years to develop. Finally, this versatile Yamaha guitar comes with a soft case.

Wrote the following about Yamaha LL16M ARE acoustic western guitar

Beautiful guitar and this was considerably cheaper than any other site I'd looked at. PLays beautifully straight out of the box, well set up and fitted with Elixir strings which seemed almost 'too' bright initially, but they're fine after a few days of solid playing. Stays in tune and lends itself more to picking than bashing strumming the guitar. For the money, this is an absolute bargain, which will only improve with age. Comes with a Yamaha case which is reinforced, but not a flight case. Sturdy enough with padded foam and firm sides, so ample protection for carrying the guitar to gigs or jam sessions, or simply storing in the house when not being used. This is being used constantly now, and will take everywhere with me.
