Yamaha A1RII Vintage Natural electro-acoustic guitar
I saw a few reviews from Taylor players saying they either had this guitar as a back-up, or used it temporarily whilst theirs was being repaired, and they found the quality comparable. I couldn't agree more. I've played a couple of Taylors 214s and this guitar is totally on par with it.
The richness of the sound, the fidelity of the electrics, the quality of the finish - they're all sublime. It's not a flashy looking guitar but that actually makes me love it even more. It sounds good enough to not need to make too much of an effort aesthetically.
You may see other reviews saying "be prepared to do work to get the action down" and that is true. It was a little high out of the box but after a little over a 1/4 turn on the truss rod it's settled right down for some amazing playability.
There's no compromise with this guitar and the price is so competitive compared with its peers.
