This DiMarzio DP 811BK Ionizer 8 Bridge bridge pickup is specially designed for Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders). 8-string guitars normally have an extended high- and low-end response, and it is the mids in particular that need to boost the bridge position so that the sound is not swept away. In addition, these pickups work nicely with overdrive because the sound doesn't get muddy and because enough headroom remains when you turn the volume down a bit.
