General

The DP161F Steve's Special guitar element is a high-output humbucker bridge pickup with a wide frequency range chosen. Often, high-output humbuckers have a very focused frequency range, so the power of the pickup is concentrated on that. But, this can also bring limitations in terms of sound choices. So DiMarzio engineers Steve Blucher takes a different approach, resulting in a humbucker bridge pickup where the low and high are well present, and the midrange a bit less. With a clean sound, chords and single notes have almost a kind of hi-fi-like sound characteristic, with a sparkling high. Even with distortion, chords retain a lot of definition, as does the pick-attack, with the result that single notes are clearly distinguishable from each other and don't quickly come out too overdriven. So this also makes the Steve's Special perfect for faster lead work. This pickup is F-spaced, so it only fits guitars with a Floyd Rose or similar tremolo bridge.
