In 1999 mijn Fender American Standard Stratocaster met maple hals gekocht. En daar al zoveel plezier van gehad. Hij klonk prima, maar toch had ik al een tijd andere pickups in mijn hoofd. En gisteren heb ik de Custom Shop 69's erin laten zetten. Mijn hemel, ik heb een nieuwe gitaar. Meteen 's avonds met de band uitgeprobeerd en ik kwam zwevend thuis. Zij hebben echt het 69/70 geluid uit de tijd van Woodstock - Jimi Hendrix - maar ook David Gilmour. Het iets houterige en grillig gedefinieerde geluid met zoveel 'clarity'. Als je van dit geluid houdt, is dit de ultieme keus. Zelf had ik het geluk dat de pickups (2010 op de pickups - en ook: ay) gewonden waren door Abigail Ybarra, die van 1956 tot 2013 voor Fender heeft gewerkt en een fenomeen was m.b.t. het winden van de Pickups.

Geweldige pick ups, gebaseerd op degene gebruikt rond de jaren 69 zoals op de doos staat. Als je wil klinken als woodstock, zijn dit DE pickups. Er zit een handleiding bij om te installeren, deze mag iets duidelijker vind ik, heb nog altijd wat op internet moeten opzoeken, maar dit ligt niet aan bax maar aan fender zelf. Een echte aanrader!
