These active pickups were designed according to the Jeff's own preferences, with high-output passive humbuckers as the main inspiration. This set for 7-string guitar has an active mount, also called a soapbar. You can count on these babies not to cringe in the face of distortion, and to offer plenty of attack and articulation.

Wrote the following about Seymour Duncan Jeff Loomis Blackouts 7 active mount set active

De standaard actieve pickups (IBZ-LZ) van mijn Ibanez RGA7 klonken nogal iel, terwijl de gitaar wél lekker speelt. Na veel onderzoek besloten deze te vervangen met deze Jeff Loomis Blackouts.

Hoewel de set niet voorradig was, werd deze keurig geleverd op de opgegeven termijn. De set bevat naast de pickups ook de benodigde signaaldraden, 4 potmeters (ik had er maar twee nodig) incl. alle ringetjes en een degelijke jackinput (past niet in RGA7 zonder aanpassingen en oude was nog prima).
De pickups zelf waren eenvoudig te vervangen, maar de rest was een behoorlijke klus: Batterijhouder uitdremelen (want 1x9V ipv 2xAA batterijen), EQswitch vervangen (werkt niet op 9V en klinkt toch ruk) door de toneknob (meegeleverd) en vervolgens wiring geheel opnieuw solderen.

Maar het resultaat is er ook naar: WAT - een - brute - metalsound!
Eindelijk klinkt de laagste snaar ook lekker en ook de neck pickup is nu veel bruikbaarder.
Kortom: Dikke aanrader, als je niet terugdeinst voor wat knippen, zagen en solderen!
