This is the Boston NC-340 Nitrocellulose Primer Aerosol. This is a nitrocellulose primer lacquer in a 500-millilitre aerosol can, intended to give electric guitars and bass guitars a first coat of lacquer before finishing. The lacquer has been used on these stringed instruments since the 1950s and 1960s and is mostly used today on more vintage-style electric guitars, basses and semi-acoustic models. The thin lacquer layer keeps your guitar's woods resonating superbly and acquires more character over the years through discolouration, crackling and lacquer checking.

How to use this Boston Aerosol spray?

Use this Boston Nitrocellulose Aerosol spray can in a dry and well-ventilated area at a temperature of at least 15 degrees C. Always wear protective gloves, clothing and goggles when using it due to fine dust, and make sure not to accidentally lacquer other items by removing or covering them. After use, you can hold the spray can upside down and spray until only gas comes through the nozzle. After that, you can put it away and just continue using it later.

How do you apply this nitrocellulose lacquer?

Start by shaking the spray can well upside down for a few minutes and test with a light coat of lacquer, for example on a piece of test wood. Before you start, make sure the wood is dust-free, grease-free and clean. Hold the sprayer at +/- 20 centimetres vertical distance from the area to be lacquered. Release the pressure before changing direction and then simply apply this pressure again. Have you applied a thin layer? Then wait 10 minutes before applying the next layer of lacquer. By the way, this Boston nitrocellulose lacquer needs several days to fully cure.
