General

Throughout history, Hohner harmonicas and the blues have always been inextricably linked and, so you can get a taste of the blues or authentic Hohner sound yourself, the legendary maker has compiled the perfect starter pack: the Step-by-Step Blues set includes a Hohner Big River Harp in the key of C, a lesson book written by harmonica virtuoso Steve Barker and a CD loaded with all of the exercises and examples.

The Hohner Big River Harp

The name of the Big River Harp harmonica refers to the sound heard all along the Mississippi at the turn of the 20th century. In fact, it was on the edges of the Big River where the foundation of today's pop music was built, and we all know that just a handful of harmonica notes can turn songs straight into soul-felt blues. To do just that, this particular example features a durable plastic comb, copper reeds and reed plates, and stainless steel covers.

Steve Barker

The included lesson book is written by one of world's best harmonica players of our time. Steve Barker grew up in London, relocated to Germany at the end of the 1970s and has been playing professionally since 1975. While he's also mastered styles country, folk, funk and jazz, it's the blues that rightfully earned Barker his eminence. Here, Hohner offer the unique opportunity to learn from the best.
