General
The top-shelf SPL Phonitor 3 headphone amplifier pulls the best possible performance out of your headphones, thanks in part to the 120 Volt DC Audio Rail: the same high-quality power supply that runs all of SPL's equalizers, compressors and preamps. This highly efficient power supply ensures the lowest possible distortion level and supports an astronomical dynamic range. Combined, these few features already make the Phonitor 3 the number-one choice for demanding professionals.
The SPL Phonitor 3: Crossfeed Matrix
The SPL Phonitor 3 also sets itself apart with the inclusion of an extensive Crossfeed Matrix. This essential design detail manages to counter the unnatural stereo imaging that happens when you usually listen through a set of headphones, where the left and right channels are fully separated - giving you a completely different experience to listening through speakers. What the Crossfeed Matrix does is feed a little bit of the left channel through the right ear and a little of the right channel through the left, mimicking the feel of a speaker setup and resulting in a far more natural stereo image. This feature isn't just welcome for the mixing and mastering stages, but will also slap a grin on the face of any self-respecting audiophile.
The SPL Phonitor 3 + Expansion Rack
The Phonitor 3 bundle also comes complete with an Expansion Rack, which not only means that this unit can be neatly mounted into a standard 19 inch rack, but means that you get an extra set of stereo outputs that can be used to connect up to four pairs of studio monitors. Flip between speaker pairs via the big knob on the front panel and gain an efficient monitor switcher as well as a high-performance headphone amplifier.
