An extra-compact, large-diaphragm condenser microphone, the Audix SCX25A isn't just easy to position and aim, but packs a beautifully open sound. The slim body ensures there's barely any acoustic shadow, while the smart way the microphone capsule has been suspended eliminates the need for an external shock mount. The pickup pattern of the SCX25A falls somewhere between cardioid and omnidirectional and, as a nice bonus, this microphone comes including a pair of A140 headphones.
