General

The Roswell Pro Audio Aztec is a boutique valve condenser microphone that's based on the Holy Grail among studio microphones, so expect vintage sound but without vintage noise or a vintage price tag. The Aztec shapes transparent, intimate sound without any sharp edges whatsoever — perfect for keeping lead vocals in the foreground without being forced to nudge them too much. Both the microphone itself and the power supply are a combination of modern components and new-old-stock parts, resulting in premium-grade audio that's normally reserved for microphones that cost four times as much. Also, the Roswell Pro Audio Aztec and boasts a surprisingly low noise floor and is virtually insensitive to fluctuating power supply. It comes including an Audioquest power cable and a Gotham microphone cable, which only underscores its performance. Does the Aztec sound just as good as a vintage microphone? Well, no — it sounds better.
