The Sphere L22 modelling microphone by Townsend Labs simulates the characteristics of some of the most legendary large-diaphragm microphones on the planet. You can choose between three pickup patterns and apply the one you want before or after you've recorded your track! It offers extremely accurate detail, including transient response, harmonic distortion, proximity effect, and 3-dimensional directional characteristics. What's more, the L22 has dual capsules, which means you can record in stereo. You can even connect two mics up to the L22 at once! Townsend Labs Sphere L22 modelling microphone

Geweldige microfoon, identiek aan mijn Neumanns in goede monitor room. De nieuwe features zoals stereo recording en verbeterde off-axis rejection en isohere maken deze onevenaarbaar tov conventionele grootmembraam microfoons. Als je een microfoon moet kiezen is dit de onbetwistbare keuze. Het C800 model is eigenlijk gewoon identiek, dit is een 10000 euro kostend apparaat! De Soyuz 17T heeft zo’n goddelijk geluid.

We leven in mooie tijden zeker voor de homerecording studio. Heb wel eem beetje medelijden met de microfoonfabrikanten, die zullen moeten meeontwikkelen of gaan ten onder.

Dit is een heerlijke mic voor mensen die de klank van de high end mics zoeken en niet het geld (of het verdienmodel) ervoor hebben en voor mensen die na de opname nog de flexibiliteit willen hebben van mic te veranderen. Ik gebruik hem icm de Townsend UAD plugin (krijg je er gratis bij) en heb tot nu toe een bijzonder aangename Voice Over (kind en mannenstem) en piano-opname (als stereo in M/S setup) ermee te weten realiseren. Couldn't be happier dat ik in mijn zoektocht (en de wanhoop over welke mic van 2k het beste resultaat op zou leveren) de Townsend vond!! Geen stress meer of ik wel die ene mic heb gevonden die high end opnames maakt en ook nog eens bij heel veel verschillende bronnen past..

Praktisch: Het is een grote, zware mic die redelijk straks in z'n koffer zit. In een MS opstelling waarbij de standaard in de velugel hing, zakte de standaard naar beneden door het gewicht. Heb het opgelost met ondersteuning/tegengewicht. Ik ben geen fan van de LED lichtjes maar ze zijn wel enorm functioneel en hebben me meermaals geholpen met vinden in welke modus de mic zich bevond.
Je kunt de Townsend plugin via hun site downloaden of de UAD versie downloaden als je Apollo hardware gebruikt en 'm als Unison wilt inzetten.

Townsend Labs Sphere L22 modelling microphone

Briljante mic. Ik gebruik zowel de Slate VMS ML-1 en ML-2 als de Townsend. Alle drie super tof, maar deze is een stuk veelzijdiger omdat je verschillende richtkarakteristieken hebt. Vooral als je UAD Apollo apparatuur gebruikt is dit een zeer leuke aanvulling.
