General
The Sennheiser MKE 1 is a true miniature lavalier microphone: it is so small, that it is nearly invisible. In order to make it blend into its surroundings even more, it comes in four colours: black, white, brown and this beige version, the MKE 1-5-3. The cable is 3 metres long and has an open end. This means that the cable is not equipped with a plug, so that you yourself can decide with which wireless system you want to use the lavalier microphone. The Sennheiser MKE 1 is rugged, well-resistant against sweat and it provides a great sound!
MKE 1: the sound
The microphone capsule of the Sennheiser MKE 1 has a diameter of only 3.3 mm and an omnidirectional pickup pattern. As the diaphragm is so very small, it has a quite linear frequency range of 20 to 20,000 Hz. The microphone can handle a sound pressure of no less than 142 dB. This means that the sound won't get distorted easily and everything is registered perfectly, be it speech, vocals, string or brass instruments.
Rugged design
Sweat can be extremely detrimental to the life span of a microphone and therefore optimal protection is warranted. Thanks to extensive preparatory research, the diaphragm of the MKE 1 is very well suited for heavy-duty circumstances. A special mesh and multifunctional capsule offer extensive protection against moisture and wind noises. Only your desired sound is registered. The Kevlar-reinforced cable minimises contact sound. All in all, the MKE 1 is a reliable, durable lavalier microphone that produces a great sound.
