General
The Sennheiser MK 4 is a large-diaphragm condenser with a full and powerful sound. The microphone has a solid metal housing, a cardioid pickup pattern and an SPL of 140 dB. This makes the microphone well suited for studio as well as on-stage use. With the MK 4 you are getting your hands on a professional condenser microphone, that was made with German precision!
MK 4: quiet and a high SPL
The Sennheiser MK 4 microphone has a 1-inch diaphragm, equipped with 24-carat gold. The diaphragm is based on the one that can be found in the Sennheiser E 965 high-end vocal microphone, but this version is optimised for recording applications. The microphone's maximum processable sound level of 140 dB makes it well suited for more demanding uses like picking up wind instruments and guitar amplifiers and overhead use. The microphone is also very quiet thanks to its self noise of only 10 dB.
Accessories
Besides the Sennheiser MK 4 you will find a manual, solid microphone clip and protective pouch in the box. For optimal recording you can also use a separately available MS 4 shockmount.

Onlangs heb ik de Sennheiser MK 4 studio microfoon besteld bij Bax Music. Ondanks dat de microfoon tijdelijk niet op voorraad was, werd hij toch binnen anderhalve week geleverd — sneller dan ik had verwacht. Complimenten voor de vlotte en duidelijke communicatie van Bax Music!
Bij het uitpakken kreeg ik even een schrikmoment: het pakket kwam uit een koude omgeving in mijn warme studio terecht, waardoor er condens op de microfoon was ontstaan. Ik heb de microfoon twee dagen rustig laten acclimatiseren en opdrogen, en gelukkig werkte alles daarna perfect.
Na het aansluiten op mijn RØDECaster Pro II was ik direct onder de indruk. De MK 4 levert een warm, strak en professioneel geluid dat ideaal is voor mijn toepassingen. Ik ga deze microfoon gebruiken voor het inspreken van podcasts en sprookjes, als vervanger van mijn SHURE SM7A — en hij overtreft mijn verwachtingen ruimschoots.
Nu alleen nog een stevige knikarm of vloerstatief vinden, zodat ik voortaan heerlijk vanuit mijn luie stoel mijn verhalen kan vertellen. Zie je me al zitten?
Kortom: de Sennheiser MK 4 is een fantastische microfoon met een prachtig geluid, en Bax Music verdient een groot compliment voor de snelle levering en betrouwbare service. Een aanrader voor iedereen die serieus met audio aan de slag wil!

I LOVE THIS MIC. I was looking for something that wouldn't make my voice peak all the time because I am a lyric soprano with a big dynamical range. This mic makes my voice more Neutral so I can easily mix my vocals and it doesn't pick up as much background noice as the previous mic that I owned. This is definitely a super nice mic for both vocals and guitar. Lots of rich sounds in there.

DEZE MIC IS ZO NICE. Ik was een lange tijd op zoek naar een mic die niet zou peaken omdat ik zelf een lyric sopraan ben (hoge boice type) met een grote dynamische range. Deze mic zorgt ervoor dat ik een neutrale sound uit de mic krijg en mijn vocals makkelijker kan mixen. Deze mic doet neemt weinig background noice op voor een condenser mic, maar dat neemt zeker niet klanken weg van je stem. Deze mic is goed voor vocals en gitaar. Mooi warm geluid en makkelijk te gebruiken!
