General
Are you looking for an electric bass with an extra string and that classic J-style body? Then this Sunset Series Jellyfish 5 is a great-value bass guitar, which is relatively lightweight thanks to its limewood body – perfect for beginners or simply as a second instrument. It also comes with a handy, custom-fit gig bag. With this bass’s standard tuning, you can drop it by up to 5 semitones down to low B for extra range. Even with an extra bass string, this Fazley still plays exceptionally comfortably. This is mainly down to the familiar modern C-profile of the neck, the slightly higher 21 medium jumbo frets and the matt finish on the neck.
Sunset Jellyfish 5: full mid-range with slightly punchy highs, known for its wide dynamic range when amplified
The neck of this Fazley bass is also made from solid maple, which has, in turn, undergone a roasted treatment to ensure extra stability. Combined with the aforementioned basswood body, this produces a fundamental tone with a full mid-range and just a little more punch in the treble, to which the TUSQ nut certainly contributes. To deliver that familiar wide range of passive J-style bass sounds, this 5-string Sunset Series Jellyfish features two single-coil pickups in the usual positions, with the familiar controls. Each pickup has its own volume control, and the tone of the overall sound can also be fine-tuned to perfection.
