General
If you're looking for a straight-up, high-quality four-channel preamp, the RME Quadmic II is a safe-and-solid choice. This class-A microphone/DI preamp comes housed in a sturdy metal unit, ensures crystal-clear sound and, thanks to the optional battery holder, this flexible bit of kit can just as easily be taken to jobs on-location.
The Quadmic II: The Ins and Outs
In addition to four balanced stereo jack outputs, RME have armed the Quadmic II with four balanced microphone/line inputs in the form of Neutrik-made XLR/TRS combo ports. Each channel has a dedicated 48V phantom power switch, a low-cut filter and a phase-reverse option, while the amplifier can be set between +6dB and +60dB, and LED indicators help you monitor the signal, clip and phantom power.
The Housing
The housing of the RME Quadmic II is strong enough to take a knock or two and comes furnished with a classic blue front, making it go well with any HDSPe or Fireface set-up. Combined with a Unirack (not included), you can even mount two side-by-side.
