Who would have thought it? Any old keyboard, master keyboard or synthesizer with an old DIN-MIDI connection can now get the capability to send MIDI signals wirelessly! All you need is Yamaha's MD-BT01 DIN-MIDI Bluetooth LE adapter. It will send a signal to iOS 9.2 (or newer) or Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite (or newer).

This Yamaha Bluetooth setup is an excellent choice if you need to link your midi keyboard to your iPad. There are other ways to doing this such as Irig however these will occupy your Lightning port meaning you cant charge your device or use the output as I do into HDMI. The Yamaha dongle is very easy to use , just plug into your midi device in the in/out ports. If you go to the settings/Bluetooth on your IPad the dongle will not show as a device. I downloaded a free app called Midimttr which allows you to assign midi devices. I gleaned this from a YouTube video ! As soon as you select the devices menu in midimittr the Yamaha appears and you can connect to it and choose your midi routing options. Then its just a case of loading your music app and selecting the appropriate midi channel etc. There is a red led on the dongle which flashes then turns constant once youre connected. The dongle is midi powered which means you can use it as I have on my Korg micro Korg allowing me to have portable freedom without wires, brilliant ! In use the dongle behaves perfectly and Im very happy with indeed, would highly recommend

Super appareil. Permet en quelques clics une connexion ( pour ma part de mon Clavinova de 2005... ) à garage band, Cubasis ... sur mon iPad Pro. Rapport qualité prix excellent. Je recommande.

Ça faisait longtemps que je recherchais un tel périphérique Bluetooth.
L'ipad le reconnaît très rapidement.
Je l'utilise pour piloter mon kemper (preamp guitare) et aussi mon Voicelive3.
Tout ça via une application (ONSONG) qui gère mes paroles et accords de chansons. Le système est très stable, un seul Ipad peut en associer (dans mon cas) 3 en même temps.
Pour le moment je commande 2 appareils, le d'ongle Bluetooth est auto alimenté par l'appareil hôte.
Dans un futur proche j'essaye de commander avec mon ipad, mon séquenceur cubase.
Un must dans le Midi via ipad, bien mieux que le Irig

Zeer tevreden over, werkt schitterend samen met digitale piano, nu kan ik eindelijk piano bladmuziek leren met linker- en rechterhand apart dmv MIDI files, draadloos bestuurd vanaf mijn iPad. Aansluiting en installatie ook helemaal simpel!
