Akai's MPC series is legendary, and rightfully so. Since the 1990s, the samplers and controllers have played a vital part in the production of countless hit songs. This MPC Element is a modern MIDI controller that has been specifically designed for use with MPC Essentials, a software pack that offers various 32 and 64-bit music production options. MPC Essentials is compatible with Mac (10.6 and higher) and Windows 7, and can operate on a stand-alone basis or as a DAW plug-in. The MPC Element works seamlessly with MPC Essentials, ensuring effortless music productions.
MPC Element: customised controller for MPC Essentials
The MPC Element has a familiar look, featuring 16 rugged, velocity and pressure-sensitive pads with multi-colour LED backlight for visual feedback and an optimal overview while you're working on your productions. Various other controls, including track selection, undo, erase, mute and solo, are also at your disposal, and a set of clear transport buttons enables you to quickly navigate your projects, regardless of the type of DAW you're using. The MPC Element is able to transmit MIDI data, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
Housing and connectivity
The MPC Element has a remarkably compact design and weighs less than a kilo. The sleek housing has a brushed aluminium exterior with an integrated cover that protects the controller against dust and other harmful influences. The Akai MPC Element is bus-powered via USB, which means you can easily use it on the road in combination with a laptop - an external adapter is not required. The controller is supplied with breakout cables for DIN MIDI and with a USB cable.

Zeer goede aanvulling op mijn huidige setup, en ook weer een snelle levering door Bax-shop, vrijdagavond rond iets na 20.00 besteld maar de volgende dag nog voor 15.00 in huis !

Als je je drumtracks nog inspeelt met een keyboard is dit een enorme verbetering. Dit was voor mij de belangrijkste reden om de MPC aan te schaffen.
De pads zijn dynamisch en reageren goed.
De geluiden zijn wel erg dance georienteerd maar het is simple om eigen samples toe te voegen. Verder kun je je favoriete (drum) vst bedienen binnen je sequencer maar dit is wel even puzzelen met de handleiding erbij.
Het maken van een beat werkt erg intuitief: beginnen met een bassdrum en vervolgens voeg je alle andere elementen in overdub toe.
Je hebt 8 pad banken tot je beschikking waarin je complete kits, percussie- of zelfs bas en synthgeluiden kunt laden om een song te maken.
In eerste instantie zijn de loops 2 maten lang, maar langer kan ook. Je kunt diverse loops samenvoegen tot een song.
De software werkt zelfs prima op een Macbook air en de ingebouwde geluidskaart zonder noemenswaardige latency. Dit heb ik alleen nog maar geprobeerd met 1 bank met 16 geluiden. Meer geluiden betekent waarschijnlijk een hogere belasting voor je processor en vermoedelijk meer latency en kwaliteitsverlies.
4 sterren omdat ik pas een week met de MPC werk en nog niet alles heb kunnen proberen.
Conclusie: voor dit geld kun je het bijna niet laten om er een te kopen.

natuurlijk voor de muzikanten die nog meer willen , is de akai mpc studio de opvolger
1 ding even opletten , dat de specs niet helemaal kloppen , namelijk dat het zou werken voor de mac gebruikers vanaf 10.6 alleen akai ondersteund dit niet meer .
ik heb gister contact gehad met akai en dit is wat ik kreeg van hun.
( The Essentials Software requires OS X 10.7 or 10.8 (at this time).
The MPC Software no longer supports 10.6 as well.

Known in some circles as the Black MK2, this MIDI controller features a few nice points of improvement on the MPC Studio. A 2.0 version of the MPC software was also released at the same time and comes included with the controller.
