General
The MXR M101 Phase 90 is a classic guitar pedal that produces a warm, rich analogue phaser effect. The M101 is renowned for its high sound quality and reliability and was used by none other than Eddie Van Halen to create swirling, spacious guitar sounds. A phaser combines the sound of a guitar with a copy that is placed before and after the original signal. The phase differences that this creates ensure a alternating thin and full, deep sound. You can adjust the speed of this pulsating effect with the knob on the 101.
Using the M101
The M 101 - which is also perfectly applicable to vocals, key instruments and bass guitars - can produce a surprising amount of effects. You can experiment with the pulse's speed, to make it move in unison with the beat of the music. Another interesting effect can be obtained by giving the phaser its own tempo! Low settings allow for a pleasant, wave-like effect, while higher speeds give your solos a delectable drive. Put a recorded guitar section through the pedal while adjusting the speed live on stage for an amazing effect!

Great pedal, build is sturdy, sound quality is fantastic, and for only having one knob this pedal is surprisingly versatile, having the knob in the middle gives the classic phaser sound, but having it on a low level can work really well with clean tones, and effects like reverb.

Op gitaristenforums wordt vaak neerbuigend gedaan over de nieuwe "block logo" phasers van MXR, waarbij de veel duurdere "Script"-versie dan telkens naar voren geschoven wordt als énig deugende alternatief.
Totaal ten onrechte eigenlijk, want niet iedere muzikant is op zoek naar subtiel zwevende 70's sounds. Sommigen willen een phaser met wat méér pit en presence, en dan is deze hier een uitstekende keuze. Waarvan akte!

De bekende Phaser! die je zo overal op elk podium wel tegenkomt. 1 knop en meer heb je niet nodig. Van Van Halen achtige riffs, tot bluesy solo's met een Hendrix vibe. Veelzijdig pedaal. Ik gebruik hem vooraan in de effectketen, voor een distortion. Met je voet bedien je de grote knop. erg handig.

heb zelf nog nooit zon goeie phaser gehad deze klinkt heel fijn en een de snelheid kun je tot in detail aanpassen.
