Condenser microphones are great for podcasters, live-streamers and online gamers, but so are broadcast microphones since these are designed to make your voice sound nice and clear, without the need for any post-editing or polishing.
Broadcast Microphones: Made for Radio
Broadcast microphones are also called radio microphones. Compared to vocal microphones, broadcast microphones shape a fuller, calmer sound, which they can get away with since radio presenters don't exactly need to compete with the sound of a band.
Gaming Microphones
Communication is essential in multiplayer games, so it's important that your voice is captured with clarity while the clicks and clacks of your keyboard as well as other ambient noise is blocked out. With that in mind, a cardioid or possibly a super-cardioid/hyper-cardioid microphone would be your best bet. Equipped with an integrated shock mount, broadcast microphones and dynamic vocal microphones are ideal for gaming. If you do insist on using a fancy studio condenser microphone, make sure to pick up a solid external shock mount.
Condenser Microphones vs. Dynamic Microphones
Thanks to their detailed sound and massive frequency range, condenser microphones are incredibly popular. When used in acoustically treated rooms, condenser mikes deliver sparkling, life-like sound and, because of their high output, plugging one into a basic audio interface or mixer will always get you ample volume. Dynamic microphones, on the other hand, are known for their durable build and user-friendliness. While they're not as hyper-detailed as condenser microphones, dynamic mikes register less unwanted noise, making them better for spaces that don’t have any acoustic treatment.
A Classic Floor Stand or a Desktop Stand?
For recording and amplifying vocals and instruments, we've got microphone stands in all shapes and sizes, including straight stands and boom arm microphone stands. That said, floor stands aren't exactly ideal if you're sitting at a desk so, for podcasters, home office workers, gamers and live-streamers, we have purpose-made broadcast microphone stands. These stands not only make positioning your microphone much easier, but can save you quite a bit of desk space.
