New Grandstage Pianos by Korg Set the Tone

Friday 7 July 2017 by Lizanne

The two new stage pianos by Korg offer all the functions you need for an optimal live performance. Both models are equipped with the same sound engines (seven of them!) and effects. The only difference is that the GS1-73 Grandstage has 72 keys (E1-E7) while the GS1-88 Grandstage has 88 (A0-C8). These pianos come complete with a pedal, music stand and a power cable, but most importantly, they combine excellent quality and design and feature a user interface that's been developed especially for playing on stage.

Seven sound engines

Korg have equipped these new pianos with no fewer than seven sound engines for authentic-sounding acoustic piano, organ, electric piano, harpsichord, FM piano and mellotron samples. They've also added two new sounds to the SGX-2 - an Italian grand piano and an upright for a more intimate feel. Thanks to the split and layer functions, you can divide the keyboard into two identical registers and layer different instrument sounds on top of each other, respectively. Store your preferred sounds with the Favorite buttons and quickly call them up in between songs during your performance. With the integrated Smooth Sound Transition (SST), toggling between sounds and effects while playing is a breeze. The SST technology has been fine-tuned for these Grandstage pianos and ensures a transition that's so natural, your audience won't even hear it.

Dynamic

Dynamics are an essential ingredient to any expressive instrument, including the piano. For this reason, Korg's Grandstage pianos are equipped with Real Weighted Hammer Action 3 keyboards. These velocity-sensitive keys make it feel as if you're playing on an acoustic piano; even the keys in the lower register feel heavier than those in the upper register. As a result, you can play with the most subtle nuances and expression, which is what making music is all about!

You're in control

With the dynamic buttons on the control panel, you can tweak the amount of brightness and expression to perfection. What's more, there's a 3-band EQ available to adjust the tonal character of the piano. Lastly, the Panel Lock function locks your preferences so you don't accidentally lose your settings.
