Devine Onyx 8 8-Inch Passive Satellite Speaker
I was admittedly skeptical about these, given how inexpensive they are. But I wanted some small speakers I could mount on the walls of my studio space for when I was rehearsing with my band. I had my full 1600w PA set up in there, but it was taking up too much room (plus the hassle of having to constantly take it down and set it up whenever there are gigs on), so downsizing to 4 100w speakers, and I was unsure.
I've been powering them on a 1600w powered mixer, and I've been cranking the volume up, and up, and up. I am actually quite astounded by how much punch these things have. 10 years ago, a 100w speaker at this price would have just been killed immediately with the amount of power I've been putting through these.
Would definitely recommend these to anyone looking a nice small speaker that looks good and sounds better. For installations in a pub or a restaurant, with 4 or more of these, they would also be fantastic.
With a bit of juice pumped into these, there is a proper thump from the bass frequencies. I thought a subwoofer was most definitely going to be required for any kind of bass, but I was very wrong there.
